Ready or Not, Here We Come!

Addison is getting his molars at the moment, and is therefore a little on the cranky, snotty, slobbery, whiny, and clingy side. He's actually taken it like a champ. He told me that it's his goal to have them all in by the time we do all our holiday visiting so that his Grandpa/Gramps will feed him steak. With that in mind, I want to give all you visitees a little glimpse of how much fun we're going to have. So get excited! At lunch today he was finishing up with some goldfish and I was trying to eat the rest of my orange before he got done. Of course he decided he had to have some of it for himself. So I chopped up a couple little pieces and it was like an instant party! The orange party continued for at the very least ten minutes before he decided he was done. He signals that he's finished with a meal by throwing whatever he has on his tray overboard. We therefore always have food crusted to our dining room floor. The orange, etc. started flying, so I told him to stop...

First Step

This little sweet pea of ours took his first step last Friday! Mommy and Daddy got a little too raucous in our celebration, though, and he ended up getting scared and crying for about five minutes. I think he's going to reach Daddy's goal for him to be walking all over the place by Christmas.

Autumn Day

I am pleased beyond expression with this year's rendition of autumn. I've only had to pull out the big winter coat once, and it's only snowed once. That is pretty impressive because if my memory serves me correctly, winter usually rears its ugly head around here in the middle of October and sticks around till April, May, June...whenever it's good and ready to leave. We've been able to do yard work almost every weekend, and Addison and I have gone hiking with friends every week for the past month or so. I was slightly disappointed when the trees in our yard started changing colors. They were brown. Not that there's anything wrong with brown, but I grew up with a giant maple tree in my front yard that burst into flames every fall. I guess I was hoping that our house had one of those built in. As more leaves started to change, though, we got some nice color. We have a cute little white porch swing in the very back corner of our yard. Until recently it's been sh...

Woah

This boy is getting way too big for his britches. Yesterday as Nate and I were getting him ready for bed, he crawled over to his closet, climbed on top of his toy box, and used it as a step to get onto his shelf. With no help. And then he crawled back and forth on it over and over, staying as close to the edge as possible in order to take years off his flabbergasted parents' lives. And then he gracefully helped himself down. This was repeated at least three times and he didn't fall once. P.S. He has a molar. And several more on the way. Yikes.

Eleven Months

There's less than a month before Addison's first birthday. I can hardly believe it! He is at such a fun age these days. It seems like he picks up something new just about every day. And he is a happy little guy. One day last week he blew me away by throwing a ton of new sounds into his vocabulary. He loves fuzzy blankets. No matter what he's doing, if he sees a fuzzy blanket, he'll go to it, lay on it, and start sucking his thumb.

Halloween: The Big Reveal

Halloween night we went to Alpine for a party with some old roommates. It was so good to see them all and we had a great time. And Addison worked his costume. If you can't tell, he's a snail. Nate and I also dressed up, but didn't take any pictures while we were there, so as soon as I get a copy from someone, I'll put it up.
