Chopped

For a long time Bryn has been growing her hair out as long as Rapunzel. She's not tender headed, so I didn't mind at all, and she is good to sit still and let me experiment on her hair, which I think is fun. In January she announced that she was ready for short hair. I am a short hair kind of girl, so I jumped at the chance to find her a cute new do. We made an appointment for the following Saturday. When the fateful morning arrived, our calm, quiet girl came totally unglued. She was screaming and crying and generally freaking out that she did not want to cut her hair. This went on for about an hour before the appointment. I think she was mostly nervous about showing up at school looking totally different. But we popped her in the car and went ahead with it anyway. By the time we got to the haircut place, she'd calmed down, and she hopped right in the chair as though nothing was wrong. We went with an a-line bob and it is darling! She loves it and so do the rest of us. Befo...

This and That

Addison and Bryn are in official (as in, not taught by one of their parents) piano lessons now. Sister Smith is a great teacher and loves them so much. They did a great job at their Christmas recital and were glad that Grandpa got to come to it! We started our New Year's Eve celebration a day early with a trip to the ice cream store from Grandma and Grandpa. What a treat! New Year's Eve with the Aarons! In the words of his father, "When you've got big sisters, you want to be like big sisters." The most wildly popular and successful preschool ever known in the land! We turned Leah's room into a blizzard! A series of encouraging texts we sent to Daddy in the middle of the day. That's right - mouth wide open = encouragement. Addison and Asa blasting off to the moon in their secret hideout. We'll miss this house! (P.S. our house is under contract!!!!) Our silly cat. She loves to curl up in our folded stroller. Asa felt the need to try and one-up Leah's...

Reflections 2015

Image
In my humble opinion, my children are never cuter than when they're totally engrossed in some sort of creative process. I love Reflections for that reason - you give them art supplies and they disappear into their own little world while they work. Addison and Bryn both won awards for their awesome 3D art projects this year. The theme was "Let Your Imagination Fly." Bryn's project: Sky Fly I love hearing what they come up with for their artist statements. Addison's project: Spook Farm I think it's so cool that he had this whole world imagined up in his head and he just showed a little snippet of it in his project. Ready to turn it in. Check that wiggly front tooth! (This was back in October.) At the awards ceremony in December. So proud of our artists!

Special Guests

Just after Christmas we got a very special treat! Aunt Shauna, Uncle Doug, Juliann, Jackson, Lucy, and bun in the oven came to visit! It was so much fun to see the kids hit it off quickly and just play and play. They went outside in the snow and played with toys and we visited Kangaroo Zoo together. It was a blast. We only got a few pictures, but here they are. Uncle Doug chased everybody all over the place at Kangaroo Zoo. Asa was unstoppable at Kangaroo Zoo! He inspired his siblings (especially Leah) to be brave.
