Thanksgiving, By the Way

Image
We spent Thanksgiving in St. George with Nate's peeps. It was the first time that that side of the family has all been together in a few years, so it was a special treat. Plus Great Grandma and Grandpa came up to celebrate it with us and my sister Megan came down too.  Highlights: A visit to Zion to hike to Scout Lookout These guys are definitely related. Giant sandbox at the top! Bryn was a bit of an emotional rollercoaster, thanks to the hike being during naptime. She went from this: to this: and thankfully ended up here. Nate carried her in his arms the whole way down. Face-painting and a chilly carousel ride. Treats with cousins. Delicious food for a packed house Yeah...the kids mainly drank their Thanksgiving dinner Giant inflatable ball: nausea-inducing good time for the kiddos, crunch berry costume for Nate. And more treats

Winter Fun

Image
Hooray for snow along with our usual dose of cold! Addison and Bryn love to go out and play in it. And their main objective each time they go outside is to eat as much snow as possible. Today we saw the sun for the first time in at least a week, so I sent the kids outside to bask in it while I scurried to clean some floors.    I peeked out to check on them several times and was thrilled to find that they'd discovered a sneaky hiding place. I found them on the far left of this picture. They're getting so big!

Yikes

This morning Bryn was exceedingly grumpy. She sat on the couch scowling at the world while I cooked breakfast and tried to be smiley. Finally it was almost time to eat and I asked, "Brynny, do you have a pretty smile for me?" She shot me a withering glare and declared, "The kitty ate my smile!" Luckily for all of us, the cat  returned it before the end of breakfast.

Sewing, Daily Sewing

I wanted to post some better pictures of Addison's quilt. I saw the zigzag idea online and fell in love with it. In retrospect I think it would've been good to just pick one or two colors for the stripes, but it was fun to shop for the fabric, and Addison LOVES it. And heck, if he outgrows it, I'll have an excuse to make another quilt. It's backed and bound in the blue color. P.S. In the crunch to finish it by birthday time, Nate sat at my side and faithfully tied the entire thing with me. What a guy. The green one is my favorite - I like the "frog in nature" theme.  And the latest - an apron that I made for Bryn for Christmas. I adore it so much it's probably sinful. I found a tutorial for the bottom half and flower bow at the waist, and then added a pocket and sort of made up the top. Love the fabric, love the design, love the cutie wearing it. This one's a definite win.
