Gramps and Grammie Come to Town

In February, my dad had a judge's conference out in our neck of the woods. He and Mom used it as an excuse to come and visit us! It was wonderful to have them as guests in our home, have Mason and Bri up, and spend time together. We played games, got a little crafty, got our exercise on... On Saturday we went out and hiked! We got so lucky with the weather. It was perfect! We drove out to Antelope Island and did a half mile hike up to the rocks and then scrambled around on them and looked for fun caves and sneaky places. Gramps "calling a rescue helicopter" to find the kids (who are hiding under the rock he's sitting on). Then we wandered down to the beach area and played in the sand and got some instruction on rock skipping. I had no idea my parents were so skilled in that art! A Tale of Four Kitties

Our old house in Roy came with a bonus - a black cat we named Athena. She was a good cat - smart, not at all needy, an excellent mouser. Once we had a mouse behind the fridge that I tried to catch for a solid hour. Then I went and found Athena, and she'd taken care of the situation in less than a minute. Another time she disappeared for more than a week and we figured she was a goner. One day as we were loading the van to go on vacation, I heard a meowing sound close to the house and went over to open up the crawl space under the house. Out she jumped, none the worse for wear. I had accidentally barricaded her down there when I was repairing some insulation. About a week before we moved out of the Roy house, I was bringing the trash up to the curb after dark and I saw a movement out of the corner of my eye.
