Gender Reveal Cupcakes

Image
Back in March, Nate and I went in for our big ultrasound for baby #5. Inspired by my sister Shauna's family, we'd decided with the kids that we'd wait to find out the gender until we were all together. The radiologist was a good sport and played along. She wrote the gender on a card and sealed it in an envelope. After the ultrasound was done, Nate and I went back to the car and managed to send a picture of the card to my sister Brianna, with our eyes closed! Skills, I tell you. Actually we sent a picture of the wrong card first, and it was blank, so there was a lot of confusion. But then we located the right one and it all got worked out. Brianna works at a bakery, and she went right to work on some cupcakes, filling them with either pink or blue frosting - nobody knew which it would be! Nate had it all worked out with a coworker who lives near Bri's bakery, to pick them up and bring them to work the next day. But Bri was so excited that she and Mason jumped in the car ...

Leah is Six!

Happy birthday to our sweet Leah! She turned six in May. Her birthday was on a Monday, so she went to ballet and school and Bryn's softball game! A busy day, but we managed to squeeze in plenty of celebration time. She had afternoon kindergarten this year, so she and Asa and I got to go to lunch on her birthday. She picked to go to Wendy's. Leah helped get the cake popped in the oven before ballet. Some ballet class fun on her birthday. Leah is a delight, as long as she has a full tummy! If she gets hungry, watch out! She loves to read, play the piano, play with her siblings, draw, and play school and house. She's really into rocks.  Totally thrilled that Bryn lent Leah her baseball socks for sports day at school. At the library, she likes to check out her regular chapter books, but is always bringing home all sorts of nonficton books from "toilet paper tube crafts" to "big cats." She is interested in so many things. She has really loved ballet this year...
