Home Sweet Home

Image
Lots of people have been asking for pictures of our new house, so here they are! These are the ones that were on the listing when we bought it. It'll be fun to look back in a few years and (hopefully) see how we've changed things here and there to make it our own. Things we love: Privacy! We're on a culdesac and our yard is quite wooded. We're not sad to have left all the traffic noises behind. The yard. We have 1/3 of an acre, and it's a nice mix of wild and tame. We're currently working our buns off to put in a garden. More room. Plenty more space to breathe and live than our old house. Also room for company. A garage!!! No need to say more on that one. A fenced yard. A guest room and bathroom with a little privacy! So come visit! A master bathroom. Lots of windows. I thought I'd never find another house like our old one as far as number of windows, but we have lots of natural light. Proximity to the mountains. Things we don't love quite as much: The c...

Kays Creek North Fork Trail

Image
The first thing you need to know is that we made up the name of the trail. No clue what it really is. The second thing you need to know is that just as we were starting out, we got rattled at! By a real bona fide rattlesnake that we'd startled! I've seen several rattlesnakes, but never have I been rattled at. It was cool. And I was grateful that the snake had the courtesy to give us some warning and slither away. That experience came in handy when we were on the way back down the trail and a certain oldest son of ours had trouble staying with the group. When he got too far ahead I'd just nonchalantly holler up at him to keep an eye out for rattlesnakes. So devious. So effective. We want to go back sometime just to play in the creek. Roly pollies abounded.  These flowers are so cool! An evolutionary marvel! Oh my goodness I could gobble this boy up. The hike was gorgeous and mostly shady. It was a stretch for our little family - we hiked a total of 2.1 miles with 515 feet el...

Leah is 4!

Image
We had a fun time celebrating Leah's fourth birthday. The day before, our preschool (meaning me, her and Asa) took a field trip to the Treehouse Museum. It was so much fun. Definitely going to have to do more field trips with these two soon. On the day of, she was delighted with each and every one of her presents. And was thrilled to have just what she wanted - vanilla cake, vanilla frosting, and vanilla ice cream. The cake was a lamb. Got 'em! We love our little Leah! She is a ray of sunshine in our home (usually). She is a little smarty and loves to learn and discover things. She still really enjoys events of any kind. Even seeing that it's a cousin's birthday on the calendar is a thrill for her. This girl is loving her Sunbeam class and gave her first Primary talk pretty recently.
