Family Vacation Leg 3: St. George, Las Vegas and Flying

It was wonderful to arrive at Nate's parents' home. It's always so clean and quiet and restful there. We enjoyed some much-needed rest and relaxation there after all our traveling and adventuring. We had the carousel almost totally to ourselves at 1:00 in the afternoon. It was almost like we were the only ones in the city crazy enough to be out in the heat! The lazy river was closed for maintenance, but the kids had fun in the splash pad and the water by the library. It was great to see Grandma and Grandpa, the Abbeys, and the Lindseys. Nate's mom moved her schedule around so that she could help us avoid parking our car at the airport the whole time we'd be gone. She drove down to Vegas with us, visited with Nate's grandparents, stayed overnight, and then parked our car for us the next morning. Thanks for the free parking, Grandma and Grandpa! Lazy Days of Summer

Here's a little smattering of the summer activity we've got going on in these parts. Outside fun! Grandma got us this sweet slip and slide. All four of the kids are big fans. One day I sent the three oldest to the garden with scissors and told them to trim down our spinach and lettuce plants to prevent them from going to seed. After quite a while of trimming, we had a TON of lettuce and spinach! So we tossed it to our little hens. The chickens were excited.  The kiddos called this "chicken salad." Hahaha! Lots of art. Bryn made this with Aunt Bri. Asa has begun turning all sorts of things into phones. Also a good bit of construction. I think Bryn made this zoo. Leah's the model for the picture. Reading lots of books.  Asa discovered the lazy susan in the kitchen and disappeared into it one day. I got to spin it around to get him back out. Some stir-craziness. A current favorite game.
