Christmas Highlights - Waste Not Want Not 101

Image
My sister Amber married a true blue Southerner. They came down from PA to visit for Christmas at the same time as us. One day during the break, Camden (the brother-in-law) noticed a deer on the side of the road that hadn't been there last time he drove by. After he got home, he took several of my sisters for a ride in the truck to go retrieve it and then gutted it in the woods behind the house and made all sorts of roasts to fill the freezer with. No, this is not the first time he's done it. Or the second. And he did it once before he and Amber were married ON A DATE. I think she loves him.

Christmas Highlights - A Little Dip

I don't know if Nate was just having arctic tundra withdrawals or what, but he decided that he couldn't leave Georgia happily if he didn't go for a dunk. It was 50 degrees. And he was wearing my dad's swim trunks. That could've been bad. Then he did it again because he wanted to try out the slide. My mom is convinced that this is what put him in the hospital, by the way.

Christmas Highlights - The House

Well, we haven't exactly gotten a camera charger yet, but I figure in the meantime it's probably about time to post some more about Christmas anyway. This past Christmas was our first trip to my folks' new house, which is about 3 minutes down the road from the house I grew up in. I was apprehensive before we went, because I knew it just wouldn't be the same, but once we got there it was amazing. They've worked their fannies off to get it just the way they want it. Return to Normalcy

I feel like life is finally getting back to normal. I guess that means I don't have an excuse for not sweeping the floor anymore. I am a little daunted at the prospect of getting on top of the housework again (as if I ever really have been) and being Mommy and Wife rather than Hostess and Nurse all the time, but I think it's going to be really nice once we make the transition. In other news, I lost the charger to our brand new camera. Hence the lack of bloggage lately. However, if we don't find it by tomorrow, we're buying a new one, so get ready!

Further Proof That We Have a Big Boy on Our Hands

Addison started walking for real about the same time he figured out how to make animal noises. He walks like a champ now from room to room to room! This next one is a little trick Add picked up at Lindsey and Micah's wedding reception when Uncle Dennis was taking pictures. Cheese is actually his favorite food these days too, and today instead of just pointing to it or yelling until I figured out what he wanted, he asked for it by saying "cheese"! This one just kills me. It's not a recent development at all. We've been doing it for several months, but I just had to share.

I broke the scale yesterday.

Quite literally, in fact. How many people can say that? It's actually more an indication of the messy state of our household than of my bulging waistline, however. I was headed to switch the laundry and managed to dodge a mountain of dirty clothes only to trip over the laundry basket and land right on the corner of our bathroom scale. It somehow did a flip in the air and landed upside down, never to be the same again. I'm not complaining, though. Now it says I'm about fifteen pounds lighter than I actually am. Not bad.

A Bright Future Ahead

Addison Knows Animals!

Addison turned into a big boy about a week and a half ago for no reason. It was like somebody just flipped a switch and he was a baby no more. Here's an example. Crank up your speakers nice and loud - some of these are a little hard to hear. But he does every one!
