Hooray for Homemaking!
Frankly, there are many days when I long to be saving the world. Or getting a master's degree. Or making bank as a band director (shoot, or even a janitor). But let the record reflect that today, April 23, 2008, I am happy as a clam to be a homemaker.
I love Addison. This morning I read the book "Follow that Bee" to him and he was so fascinated that we read it again. His hair's starting to fill in. He's wearing what I think is my favorite outfit today.
I love Nate. He is so patient and kind. I really enjoyed ironing his shirts this morning, and making our bed. Not that those are huge things, but they make life a little nicer and less hectic and slobby-feeling.
Although tomorrow I may once again be gazing at the "U" on the mountain to the east of us with longing, today, for whatever reason, I will scrub the toilet, take out the stinky diapers, and burn a batch of chocolate chip cookies with a big fat smile on my face. Yeehaw!!

ReplyDeleteMichelle, you're so great! I really liked this post. I think what you said is very insightful. My experience with this is very limited, but I think if more people would recognize the value of homemaking that you so adeptly described, families would be strengthened. Thanks for your thoughts.
