My weekend with a future TV junkie

Michelle says blogs and Facebook are appropriate Sunday activities if done "in the proper spirit," so here I am, blogging it up with a singleness of heart.

Conference weekend is here again, meaning it's been six months since we moved back from Boston. Crazy! We dragged the TV out from its hallowed place under a pile of clothes in a dusty corner of the bedroom, and after an elaborate ritual involving antenna cables and tin foil, channel 5 comes through in perfectly fuzzy black and white. At least the sound is good.

So, I've learned a lot from the brethren and sisteren (such as the fact that Pres. Monson is an adept ear-wiggler), but let's be serious: playing with Addison has often preempted listening to the talks. If possible, he's got even cuter than when he was born, and (this one is definitely possible) he's more fun than he was for the first one or two or three months. He is a blast these days:

(Sorry it's sideways and Add looks like a ghost.)

Friday night we went to my mission reunion. I've now reached the upper echelons of prestige among my fellow returned missionaries--I'm married and have a baby. And what a handsome baby at that.

Dressed to impress, no? This photo was also inserted to prove that I sometimes pitch in with the boy.

A side effect of General Conference was the discovery of a potential problem. While Michelle was in the shower Saturday morning, Addison was screaming himself silly on the couch while I fiddled with the TV. The signal finally came through, Larry the Cucumber filled the screen... and Addison was rapt. This continued throughout the session.

Absorbing Elder Hales's talk.

I suppose there are worse things he could get hooked on than General Conference and Veggie Tales (Uncle Aaron would be proud), but come on, a four-month-old watching the tele?

Comments

  1. Carly is seriously addicted to tv. I can't have it on without her wiggling and turning to see what is going on. She watched almost the entire Horton Hears a Who movie without a peep, only a brief nap interrupted her viewing. I don't know if that is good or not either.
