We made it!
After a few surprises and a whole lot of packing tape, we made it to our new house! We are loving it so far. Our town is a good mix of little and big, with sheep, horses, and fruit stands, but all the shopping and restaurants you could want (including the Burger Bar, home of the most delicious onion rings in the world) and a Walmart five minutes away from our house. We had a few Elders Quorums and some family to help us move in, and Nate's Mom was able to come up and stay with us for several days, which was a huge help and lots of fun.
One last lunch with Nate before we moved far away from Temple Square, where he works.
Despite all the annoyances that come with moving (living out of boxes, never being able to find anything, 3 trips a day to the store), we are still having a ball playing house. It's fun to put things just where we want them and to have room for everything and then some. And, WE HAVE A WASHER, DRYER, AND DISHWASHER!!!!!!! I feel to break into an exuberant hymn of thanksgiving every time I think about that.
We are so excited to work with the yard. It's a bit on the overgrown side and there is a lot to do. I found the plant bargain bin today at Walmart, though, and a few insanely cheap little gardening tools, so we're going to tackle it this weekend. I can't wait. And even though the yard is a little out of control, we've got some gorgeous flowers - especially roses. Nate's Ma went out into our front yard one night and came back with a beautiful bouquet. I can't believe it came from our yard!
One downside is the heat. Somehow the lady before us survived a lot of years with no air conditioning. I can't believe she isn't melted by now. The air conditioning man is coming on Monday to install our salvation, though (insert another hymn of thanksgiving), which is really good timing because it's supposed to be 97 degrees. Addison and I are finding ways to beat the heat, though, and having a lot of fun doing it.
Before (can't you just taste the lethargy?):
After:
We also need to announce a new addition to our family. This is Bruce, our fish. He's very nice and beautiful, but he doesn't like to eat very much, which is unfortunate. Hopefully he'll come around.

Congratulations on your new house! Also, thank you for the Kiddie Kandid coupon...I received it in the mail today.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I am sooo excited for you guys. I am certainly not looking forward to the moving part of our move, but am so excited to get there. How amazing to have all those modern convinces, it certainly makes you appreciate them when you have to go without them for a while. And what a cutie, I especially love that picture of the three of you together on temple square. P.S., we are so following you, who wouldn't want to :)
