Pregnancy
22 weeks
Ah the joys of pregnancy. . . having an excuse to take a nap every chance you get, eating anything you want, little kicks and nudges from inside. It almost makes me forget the 60 trips to the bathroom a day, the fact that I wet my pants every time I sneeze, exhaustion even after a nap, and being more emotional than I've been since about age 15. And maternity pants. Oh how I loathe them. Nothing is more grumpifying than trying to do any common household task with a toddler that does not want you to be doing it. Except doing it while your pants are falling down. Thanks to a brainstorming session with my mom, however, we've come up with a brilliant solution and it only cost $6.44 and a trip to the old man section of WalMart.
If you wear them underneath your shirt and avoid spandex-like fabric, which I generally do, no one can even tell.
That being said, the pregnancy has really been fine. No morning sickness to speak of, just tired a lot, especially during the first trimester. We had a few tough times while Nate was in the hospital when I'd go too long without eating and get really sick, but I haven't tossed my cookies a single time, for which I'm very grateful. I've had brief love affairs with minestrone, Taco Bell, and anything that can be eaten with salsa, and have developed a more lasting relationship with chicken flavored Ramen Noodles. And as the our loft reflects, I've been nesting up a storm (more to come). So what's not to like about being pregnant? I love that it's becoming obvious that I'm expecting and not just fat. And tossing around baby names with Nate. And sneaking a peek at the little tiny clothes at WalMart. And we had our ultrasound today. The big one. That little rascal was going crazy through the whole thing! Nate got to see some kicking action going on. And during my favorite part, the feet, there were definitely hands down there too, grabbing those tiny toes.

CONGRATS ON THE BABY GIRL!!! You look way too cute pregnant. It's kinda weird, but I've never actually seen you sticking-out pregnant, just really-tired-1st-trimester pregnant. You are adorable!! Especially the suspenders ;)
ReplyDeleteYEA! that is so exciting michelle and nate! so i am reaching the stage in pregnancy were i just don't want to be pregnant anymore...but only 3 more weeks, so i am happy. well good luck on your pregnancy and again it is so exciting you are having a girl!
ReplyDeleteThat's so exciting! I have to disagree with you about maternity pants, though. I can't wait to wear mine again (so to speak)! I guess for me their comfort far outweighs the nuisance of pulling them back up every so often. Good idea with the suspenders. I never would have thought of that!
ReplyDeleteWhat? We're having a baby?!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! One of each, now the pressure is off :)
ReplyDeletewow! so exciting! congratulations! you look great, by the way. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the baby girl!
ReplyDeleteYea! That's really exciting! Baby girls are fun! And she'll have a big brother to take care of her. Or torment. I hear they do more tormenting than taking care of, but fun all the same! I'm so excited for y'all!
ReplyDeleteYEAH congrats on a lil girl coming your way! how exciting!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!! I am so happy for you! And I totally agree with all of the other comments you do look adorable!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I 100% agree with you on the maternity pants thing. Unless one can spend 100 bucks on a cute pair they are frumpy and make one's behind look saggy and grotesque. I am way past the point of being able to wear my non-maternity clothes, but I still do it anyway and fasten the buttons with a rubberband.
ReplyDeleteMinestrone sounds yum! Unfortunately I ate a ton of ramen noodles in 1st trimester and will probably never be able to eat them again. blah.
Yeah, Congrats on a girl! If we're having a boy, I will load you up with clothes! Aaron's going to call tonight, I think...
ReplyDelete(Aaron) YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY!!!! Like Am said, if we have a boy, we'll be your new best friends on hand-me-downs! I have meant to call, I am SOOOOOO sorry. We're heading to da grandparentzz for a visit tonight, I will call on the way home...
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the baby girl!!! That's so exciting!! You know you are a real numchuck if you wear suspenders :-) Love ya!
