Still Kicking

Here's a quick glimpse of what we've been up to for the past little bit.

Nate's Mom came up for about a week and spoiled us rotten, as always. She took us to the zoo the day before Mother's Day. It was Addison's first time and he loved it! Not only were there tons of animals, but there was a train too!

I think this picture is hilarious. We made smores one night, and while attempting to stir up the coals a little bit she made a pretty darn good replica of a cigar. You can even see the smoke.

We've also been working very hard on our first garden. We had to do a lot of shoveling and raking to get the ground ready, but hopefully it'll pay off. We've planted tomatoes, beans, yellow squash, cantaloupe, carrots, marigolds, and a cherry tomato plant so far. We still want to do potatoes, green peppers, pumpkins, and a couple more kinds of squash. And by some miracle, our cantaloupe and beans are sprouting!

Our neighbor was gracious enough to lend us his tiller. He's a nice retired fellow and he and his wife know a lot about gardens, I think. And they let Addison play on their granddaughter's swingset. And speaking of gracious neighbors, our new neighbors who just moved in a few weeks ago saw Addison playing on said swingset one day, and just walked over out of the blue and offered their old swingset to us! Can you believe that?! So now Addison has a swingset of his very own.

The day that Nate's Mom headed home, my Mom and youngest sister Kaylyn came out because my other sister, Shauna had a baby. The baby actually came a few days late while Mom was here, and she is the sweetest little thing. Her name is Juliann Grace and she's my parents' second grandchild.

As far as we can tell our baby is doing well. She is definitely still swimming around in there, and is really active. Water ballet maybe? She also makes sure that I keep our kitchen well-stocked with strawberry shortcake, which we have at least once a day.

  1. That is so exciting, to have a garden, spend time with family, and a little one that gives you fantastic cravings :) Mine loves the cheddar and sour cream baked lays.
