Growing Up

As of Saturday afternoon, our family is officially old and established. That's right - we have two cars! The combination of Nate's school and work schedule and my Young Women calling (plus the drudgery of being stranded at home with the kids on 17-hour winter days) convinced us that it was time. After a long and exceedingly grumpifying day of car shopping, we found the one and brought it home.

So here it is - our '02 Buick Rendezvous. We went with a crossover because of the good gas mileage and because we're way too young to be driving a minivan around. It's got 7 seats total with the option to fold the two in back down for extra trunk space. It's also a lot roomier than our little Civic. Combine that with the fact that the previous owners forgot to take out their "Christmas Classics" cd, and it was a pretty easy sell.

We had one more adventure last Saturday that Nate was too embarrassed to write about. Before our hiking excursion we went to Liberty Park to feed the ducks. Addison had a great time in his stroller soaking up some rays and watching the lake and the people and the birds. We tried hard to avoid the seagulls, which are gross if you've never had much contact with them, and to get to the two ducks that were around, but competition for that bread was pretty fierce, so Nate decided to make the geese work for it (since they're the only ones that would). The documented evidence makes me wonder who was working harder, though, and who was more scared. Must be those ferocious beaks or the powerful weapons they like to call webbed feet. Notice Addison's feet in the video where you can see them.

Golden Parenting Moments

Several weeks ago, Nate woke up feeling gung-ho on a Saturday morning and decided we were going on a family sledding trip. I was a grump, but went along with it anyway. By the time we found a decent place and got a good trail worn down the kids got snow in their drawers and it was time to go. We had a great time, obviously. Poor Nate! .
