Valentine's Day is Coming!
Well, Valentine's Day is fast approaching, and for those of you who are scrambling to come up with something special for your sweetheart, here are three extremely fun, reasonably priced, and of course, HOT date ideas that Nate and I have tried out recently.
1. Bowling - When's the last time you went? Your first date maybe? This one is pretty much no-fail fun. We went to a little podunk bowling alley on a Friday night that had about 3 other people there total, including the worker. The music was so loud that to communicate we had to stand an inch away from each other and scream at the top of our lungs. Nate kicked my fanny at it. Twice. And we felt young and wild and free again.
2. Racquetball - We live right down the street from our town's Rec center and it has racquetball courts you can reserve for $3 an hour. Nate and I spent far too few Saturday mornings at BYU playing racquetball. He still takes pity on me, just like he did when we were dating. And I still lose miserably at every game. But there's nothing like locking yourselves in a concrete room and sweating like pigs together for a little while.
3. Go buy a plunger - We have never in all our years of marriage owned (or needed) a toilet plunger. Several weeks ago, however, circumstance dictated that it was time. So Nate and I went to Lowes, just the two of us, and found the perfect one. I don't know what the deal was, but I could not stop laughing, basically from the time I got out of the car. And Nate felt the need to broadcast our purchase to the world every chance he got. He asked at least 2 associates for advice and once we finally did pick one (bright yellow, by the way) he swung it around and held it up like some kind of beacon on a hill so you couldn't not notice it. (He did go through self-checkout, though - he's not completely without pride.) Anyway, although it was a bit unconventional, I still can't help giggling every time I think about it, and it only cost about 6 bucks. Can't beat it.
Anybody else been on any winners like these recently?
So I realize this didn't make it up here before V-day, but I have a fantastic date recommendation. Thumb wrestling! I don't know why it is so much fun, but it is. I think it is hilarious. Maybe next time we'll draw costumes on the competitors and really make things interesting.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I'm loving the story about the toilet plunger beacon.
I don't know why but I couldn't stop laughing the whole time I READ the plunger story.
