Thankful Tree
We started what I hope will turn into a yearly tradition this past month with our "thankful tree."
I saw a similar idea on someone's blog (I can't remember who - hee.
Whoever you are, I think you're a genius.)
Addison and I braved the cold to go fill a grocery bag full of fallen leaves. We brought them in, dried them off for a day, and then Mod Podged them onto paper rectangles.
Then we punched holes in the paper and hung them on the tree. Each night we (and whoever else happened to be over at the time) took a leaf and wrote one thing we were thankful for on the back. It ranged from things like "family," "deodorant" (from a guest who had forgotten hers) and "Jesus" to the more surprising (and entertaining) ones that Addison came up with: Ninja Turtles, balloons, gingerbread boys and fire, to name a few. I loved it. I usually get so caught up in Christmas that Thanksgiving is just a hurdle to jump on the way, but it was wonderful to really think, daily, about how richly blessed we are.
Love it!
