Best. Day. EVER!!!!!

Okay folks, here's the deal - Nate is done, as in completely finished, every i dotted and t crossed with this semester of school!!!!! He turned in his final final this morning. YEAH! Let the partying begin.
You thought that was the end of the story, didn't you? But wait, there's more!
We are potty training at the moment. We've had great days and pretty bleak ones. I have beaten the life out of my mattress in frustration at my three year old (once I misjudged and punched the buckle of the belt that was next to my pillow instead of the pillow. Ouch. Bleeding and swollen knuckles). We have had an extremely hard time with good ol' #2. I've promised rewards, made threats, gently reminded, yelled, you name it, I've done it. But today the stars aligned and I must've given just the right combo of the above. I was in my room folding laundry praying that I would not have to clean poopy underwear again today. I had gone up into Addison's room where he was beginning his nap about five times to offer my services in escorting him down to the potty/remind him that he really didn't want to go in his pants. And all of a sudden there he is, in the bathroom. He said, "I've got to go potty," plopped down on the pot, sang Jingle Bells for about ten minutes as he sat there, and stunk up the entire upstairs!! HOORAY!!!! I cheered uproariously for him, helped him get washed, and rewarded him with three fruit snacks and an Oreo cookie. Heck yes. Then he came downstairs again and asked for help finding his other triceratops and told me proudly that he was sharing his cookie with the cat. "She can have a lick and I can have a lick." Yeah. Best day ever.

  1. Yay! Congratulations on this huge achievement! And that goes for the potty training too. :) That is really exciting. Just the other day I was thinking about how glorious it will be when I don't have to change 50-million poopy diapers a day. Then I thought of all of my friends working on potting training their kids and was glad I was just changing a diaper. What a wonderful early Christmas present!

  2. We had the same trouble with our oldest. When we knew she needed to go we would even go so far as to offer an immediate trip to Chuck E. Cheese- but to no avail. Honestly I don't even remember how we did it, I think she just decided to do it one day. Kids! I'm sure the cat was excited about the Oreo! Yum!

  3. Haha! We love you guys! Your blog posts crack us up!! Way to go Addison! Great job. With fruit snacks and oreo cookies, I'm thinking he might just try this thing again. At the point that he's sharing his oreo with the cat who has licked it's special cat parts just minutes before, you were probably thinking, "I don't care, just keep this potty thing rollin' pal". I know that's what I would be saying. We're so proud of all your efforts. Good job to Nate too ;o) We should do something again soon...after the holidays perhaps. We have been missing you guys ever since our big adventure in the Grand Canyon. Let's play soon.
