Our Baby is 2!
I can hardly believe it, but last week, our little Brynny-Bryn turned 2! Where does the time go? To celebrate, the kids and I went to the park in the morning and we met Daddy at the pool that afternoon where we all had a BLAST! Bryn and Addison wanted to go down the huge twisty water slide again and again.
After the pool we headed home and had a birthday supper consisting of some of Bryn's very favorite foods, pasta (with pesto sauce) and fruit. She had 4ths on the pesto. I'd say we chose well.
After dinner we did a quick clean-up and pulled out her little scrapbook to look at as a family. Nate and I told the kids about the day she was born while we looked at pictures of our teeny little 5 pound 7 ounce angel that surprised us by showing up a month early.
We followed that up with the cake! A few of my young women helped me bake it the day before and Addison and I had a great time frosting and decorating it on her birthday. I found the caterpillar idea online and I think it turned out great. Bryn was thrilled with it, and knew just what to do with the candles. She didn't actually eat the cake - only the ice cream. But it was worth it anyway.
After cake it was present time. It was really fun to wrap them with Addison and let him help hide them under our bed. He was a great secret-keeper but was really REALLY excited for her to open them. He did a good job playing the "supportive big brother" role and suppressed (mostly) the urge to hurry up her gift opening.
This, by far, is the favorite gift. She pushes it all over the place. She tries to put it in her bed and sleep with it. And she's attempted to bring it in to my bed when she comes in for the usual wake up call at 6:30.
To close, here's a few of the things that make Bryn, Bryn: She loves to sit at the piano and hear someone play songs (she could do it for hours, though she's somewhat particular about what songs you can play) and she loves to sing songs, including Happy Family, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam, Old McDonald, and Twinkle, Twinkle. She doesn't like to wear shoes very much, and when you put on her sandals, she'll say, "Careful, careful" so they don't pinch her toes. She also says this when she gets buckled into her car seat. Speaking of, she loves buckles, and they are the main reason she will swing in her swing - so she can fiddle endlessly with the fasteners. She has a very particular bedtime routine, one that ends with her snuggled in her pink blanket, holding the tag, and with pretty much the entire contents of her closet packed in her bed, including a half dozen stuffed animals (each of which gets named and snuggled and giggled over as you hand them to her) and the book she just read before bed (we usually find the book laying on her chest when we go in to check on her). She loves her pink purse, sunglasses, puzzles, and Elmo. She can't sit still at one activity for more than approximately 2.6 seconds. She is learning her colors, and she adores and wants to be just like her big brother. And that's Bryn.
Time flies! Looks like a fun birthday!
