So You're Having a Baby...
Well heck, we're expecting number three. We are thrilled and have decided that the due date couldn't be more perfect - no sweating my face off and hauling an extra 30+ pounds around through the summer, and I don't have to miss all the fun summer outdoor activities that pregnancy limits. And the weather will be (hopefully) warming up about the time our little one comes, which makes things easier - no fear of scary letters like RSV and H1N1 (okay, I guess 1 is a number), and much less stuff to haul around clothing-wise for myself and all the kids.
I thought I'd just answer a few of the most frequently-asked questions I've been getting, so here goes:
1. How far along are you?
Just over 15 weeks
2. How are you feeling?
Better now that we're in trimester #2. Throughout the first trimester I was nauseous in the mornings and bloated to the max for the rest of the day. Delightful. I've been pretty tired, but that's getting better too. For several weeks I could not go a day without a nap, which explains my slackness in all areas of life and the state of our house. That's getting better too. This week I've made it on only one nap. About the time the garden started going nuts I decided that most veggies, especially tomatoes and squash, made me want to gag. Luckily we only had 10 tomato plants and 21 of various types of squash. BLECH. And then I got to can and smell all the rotten garbage smells as I overboiled everything and it all got stuck to the stove. Glad that's over, though I still can't look a cantaloupe in the eye.
3. What do the kids think?
To break the news to them, we took a family drive to the Bountiful temple and went on a lovely walk around it. We stopped about half way through, sat them down, and told them. Addison said something like, "hooray!" and then turned around and pointed across the street and said "WOW! Look at those jack-o-lanterns!" That's kind of the way it is. They're excited about it, but still little. Addison has asked some very insightful questions such as "Mom, how did you get the baby in your tummy?" Bryn sometimes pulls her shirt up out of the blue and pats her little potbelly and says "baby pummy." Meaning "I've got a baby in my tummy." It's pretty cute.
4. Do you want a boy or a girl?
Frankly, we'll gratefully take whatever we get, but I think Nate would have some adjusting to do if it was a girl. He likes spoiling his baby Brynny and I'm not sure how he'd balance with two little princesses. We're all guessing that it's a boy.
5. Any ideas on names?
We are pretty last-second namers for the most part. Addison has cast his vote, though. If it's a boy he wants us to name it Good Boy and if it's a girl, Marcher. Thanks buddy, we'll consider that.
6. Did you really do this while pregnant!?!?!?
Why yes, yes I did, thanks for asking. It's a wonder that the baby and I are both still alive. (Okay, so maybe that's not exactly a frequently asked question, but it makes me feel hard core anyway.)
And to wrap it all up, a glamorous shot of my 15 week stomach, which has officially reached the point where I am absolutely certain that it's not just my normal pooch or all those m&m cookies. Thanks to Addison for the great photography job.
