Christmas Cheer

Though I am fully aware that I have not yet posted about Thanksgiving, I wanted to put up a few pictures of the pre-Christmas fun we've been having. I realized today that my family, as in my parents and siblings, don't know what my Christmas decorations look like. Kind of an off-the-wall thought, but it makes me a little sad. Sometimes it's just hard to be far away. That said, this is the first year that I've been able to listen to the song "I'll Be Home for Christmas" without bawling. So I am making progress! And I'm grateful for technology that makes the 2,000+ mile gap seem a little smaller. We have really been having such a good time this holiday season. Our kids are at such a fun age and they make it magical.

 We visited Temple Square with Beck, Ben, Megan and Sam. It was COLD but beautiful!


Nate and Sam proved their manhood by hanging up lights on our really tall house in the freezing cold.

 The kids and I had a great time making Christmas sugar cookies yesterday. We somehow ended up with an egg cracked all over the floor which then got covered in about 1/2 cup of flour. But it was so fun.

    Bryn's Christmas dress is soooo darling! I love it! Also, I'm glad your kids are such good friends. It seems like in every post you say something about how they're good at sharing with each other or something like that. You guys are so cute!

    I thought a few things while reading your post.

    1. I'm glad y'all are enjoying Christmasy things so far this year! It's been a lot more fun for us so far this year too.

    2. I don't know about you, but The House That Built Me, sung by Miranda Lambert, still makes me bawl every time I hear it. Not that I feel broken, it just makes me home sick. Then on the other hand, so does You're Gonna Miss This, by Trace Adkins.

    3. Your hair is WAY cute!

    4. I enjoy reading your blog more than I enjoy reading as most of my cousins blogs. (Don't tell them.)

    5. After Christmas we should find something indoorsy to do together if you're feeling up to it and the weather cooperates. That would be fun.

We had one more adventure last Saturday that Nate was too embarrassed to write about. Before our hiking excursion we went to Liberty Park to feed the ducks. Addison had a great time in his stroller soaking up some rays and watching the lake and the people and the birds. We tried hard to avoid the seagulls, which are gross if you've never had much contact with them, and to get to the two ducks that were around, but competition for that bread was pretty fierce, so Nate decided to make the geese work for it (since they're the only ones that would). The documented evidence makes me wonder who was working harder, though, and who was more scared. Must be those ferocious beaks or the powerful weapons they like to call webbed feet. Notice Addison's feet in the video where you can see them.

Golden Parenting Moments

Several weeks ago, Nate woke up feeling gung-ho on a Saturday morning and decided we were going on a family sledding trip. I was a grump, but went along with it anyway. By the time we found a decent place and got a good trail worn down the kids got snow in their drawers and it was time to go. We had a great time, obviously. Poor Nate! .
