Easter
Happy Easter everybody! Ours was wonderful. We spent it with just the four of us, and we so enjoyed having some good family time doing extra special things with the kids.
We dyed eggs on Saturday. It was so fun to watch the kids' amazement as the little pills of dye got all bubbly in the vinegar. They did a great job with the actual dyeing part, with zero major spills! Hands down their favorite part was the proud "dump all the cups of dye in the potty together and then flush it down" tradition we've brought along from my side of the family.
We made small Easter baskets for Sunday morning and we're all suffering from jellybean overload.
Church was a bit hectic - Nate and I were asked to sing with the choir and also do a musical number, so the kids spent a good bit of time by themselves in the pew with one of my Young Women behind them making sure neither of them choked on a pretzel and died. They did great, but I missed them. Nate and I played Bach's Passion Chorale on the organ. It's meant to be a one-person thing, but Nate and I acted like it was normal to have one person play the pedals and the other play the manuals, and no one seemed the wiser. In fact, one person even asked us if we wrote it. Not bad, eh.
Our children looked darling in their Easter best, if I do say so myself.
Bryn and I got hefty naps while the boys played outside, and then we did our egg hunt. It was so fun! By far the favorite hiding spot was in the nesting boxes in our chicken coop. We re-hid the eggs several times and the kids took great pride in stumping us with their hiding places and also in finding the eggs. And the weather was so wonderful that Bryn did the hunt barefoot.
About 7:00 we decided we should probably eat some dinner, even though we were all stuffed with jellybeans, so we did and the kids did a great job of telling us all about what they'd learned in church. Between the two of them they've got the story of Christ's Resurrection down pretty well. I'm very grateful that they've got wonderful teachers at church to help reinforce the most important things we teach them.
After dinner we called the grandparents and went outside to try out the new bubbles from Addison and Bryn's Easter baskets. Nate managed to coach Bryn into a world-class bubble blower.
