First Hike of the Season

 We revisited a fave from last year, Beus Canyon, two weekends ago. We all really enjoyed it. Addison has always loved hiking and liked being the leader for most of it. Beforehand, he made a treasure map for each of us and during the hike was constantly searching for "clues." Bryn seems to have forgotten that last year the whole reason she went on hikes was for the snacks. She was a great sport and walked almost the whole time. Leah was 12 days old and ate at the beginning of the hike and then slept in the front pack the rest of the way. I'd say this year might turn out to be a golden one for family hikes.

    This is awesome. The picture of Addison and Bryn sitting on the ground looks like it could be a picture of you and Nate as children. Wow.

We had one more adventure last Saturday that Nate was too embarrassed to write about. Before our hiking excursion we went to Liberty Park to feed the ducks. Addison had a great time in his stroller soaking up some rays and watching the lake and the people and the birds. We tried hard to avoid the seagulls, which are gross if you've never had much contact with them, and to get to the two ducks that were around, but competition for that bread was pretty fierce, so Nate decided to make the geese work for it (since they're the only ones that would). The documented evidence makes me wonder who was working harder, though, and who was more scared. Must be those ferocious beaks or the powerful weapons they like to call webbed feet. Golden Parenting Moments

Several weeks ago, Nate woke up feeling gung-ho on a Saturday morning and decided we were going on a family sledding trip. I was a grump, but went along with it anyway. By the time we found a decent place and got a good trail worn down the kids got snow in their drawers and it was time to go. We had a great time, obviously. Poor Nate! .
