Why Hello, Due Date.
Well, May third, here we are.
No baby yet.
Yep.
For your edification, a few happy thoughts that I keep forcing myself to think:
First off, there's an older lady in our ward named Brenda who has seven children. I guess back in her day they wouldn't induce labor because they couldn't tell if the lungs were developed, etc. She was overdue with every one of them. And one of them was A WHOLE MONTH overdue.
Happy thought #1: It's May third, not June third.
Last Sunday someone stopped me in the hall at church to talk about the fact that I was still pregnant. In the course of our conversation she educated me on elephants, who apparently carry their babies for three years before giving birth.
Happy thought #2: I am not an elephant.
A few days ago a friend called me and said that she'd just gotten back from taking her daughter to the doctor and on the way out she'd seen an extremely pregnant woman in the elevator with handcuffs on being escorted by two police officers to her OB appointment.
Happy though #3: I am not in jail.
And I took the kids to Walmart to get a new fish, because really, I feel sorry that they've had to put up with me being a veritable ray of sunshine and serenity for the past month week or so.

Today's strategy has been to assume that the baby won't be joining us today or ever, bite my tongue as much as possible, and stay busy. And I treated myself with a trip to the nursery to buy some beautiful flowers to stick in a corner of our front planter. I have a sneaky suspicion that if I don't cover them every night for the next month or so they'll be zapped by the cold, but hey - desperate times, right?
Back in the day when I was expecting Bryn, one of my sisters asked me to post a picture of the prego belly at the end of my pregnancy and one from Bryn too so she could compare. I never got around to it and have been wracked with guilt ever since, so to wrap it up, here you go. All very flattering.
A couple days before Addison was born (2 days early)
And a few days before Bryn was born (27 days early)
And today. 40 weeks into the pregnancy that will never end. I couldn't figure out how to get my head in it with the self-timer, so this is as good as it gets.
You are darling. I remember at one week late with Salem I cried all the time and said, "I'm the only woman who is going to be pregnant forever!!!" It was absolutely miserable, so I totally feel for you. Thinking about you and sending labor vibes your way.
ReplyDeleteHang in there! You cannot be pregnant forever! Your sweet baby will come out when it's ready!
ReplyDeleteWhat's funny is, you look the smallest with your third. Babies must know when it's their time, i guess. I'm dying to know what gender this baby is!
