Ah the Joys

On Sunday we went to visit a friend from the ward. Nate and I were chatting with him while Addison and Bryn fought over his exercise machine and Leah slept. The fighting became impossible to ignore, so Nate sent them to the backyard to run around with the promise that we'd be out soon to help them get on the trampoline. About five minutes later Nate went to check on them and found Addison completely soaked from the neck down. He'd gone swimming in the koi pond. Classic. Our friend, Brother Grove laughed like I'd never seen him laugh before, and we put Addison in time out. It was especially effective because Addison was outside and we were inside. (That is a joke.)

We finally went outside and plopped the kids on the tramp to play. They were having a good old time when all of a sudden Bryn came up screaming. Nate went and grabbed her and there was blood pouring at the rate of a gallon every five seconds out of her mouth and nose. She'd landed face first on the bar on the outside edge of the trampoline. He and Brother Grove ran her inside and checked for missing teeth and stopped the flow. We got into the car as hastily as possible (which wasn't very hastily) and booked it for home and the bathtub. Bryn was pretty shaken up for the rest of the evening and Brother Grove called three times to check on her. How sweet is that?

Luckily, we all survived it. In fact, Bryn got up the next morning, crawled into bed with me, and said, "My nose all better now." While I'm glad it feels better, she's got some pretty major swelling. You can see where she bit the inside of her lip, and it looks like she has a bit of a beak. And when she talks it sounds like she's pinching her nose a little bit because of the swelling inside it, I suppose. We have family pictures a week from Thursday. Pray for us.
Bryn with a beak.

Working the beak.

We did not take the opportunity to snap a photo after the koi pond incident. So this one will have to do to show that Addison is definitely an imp.
