Cold Water Canyon

Yesterday Beck, Ben, Trevor, and Bri came up to visit. The weather was beautiful and so we headed up the canyon in hopes of finding some fall colors. We definitely found what we were looking for in Cold Water Canyon. We all had a great time. I love, love, love, love hiking at this time of year! Add and Bryn both came out of it completely filthy, which means they must've had fun.







Bri said that Trevor's feet looked like udders hanging down from the backpack.





There was a beautiful stream that we stopped at for a while.
Nate showed the kids how to blow bubbles in the water using reeds. They were so cute. He is 30% certain that Bryn drank the water, however. Hello giardia.







Bryn shoved a stick in the bark of this tree to "fix" the tree.

We had one more adventure last Saturday that Nate was too embarrassed to write about. Before our hiking excursion we went to Liberty Park to feed the ducks. Addison had a great time in his stroller soaking up some rays and watching the lake and the people and the birds. We tried hard to avoid the seagulls, which are gross if you've never had much contact with them, and to get to the two ducks that were around, but competition for that bread was pretty fierce, so Nate decided to make the geese work for it (since they're the only ones that would). The documented evidence makes me wonder who was working harder, though, and who was more scared. Must be those ferocious beaks or the powerful weapons they like to call webbed feet. Notice Addison's feet in the video where you can see them.

Golden Parenting Moments

Several weeks ago, Nate woke up feeling gung-ho on a Saturday morning and decided we were going on a family sledding trip. I was a grump, but went along with it anyway. By the time we found a decent place and got a good trail worn down the kids got snow in their drawers and it was time to go. We had a great time, obviously. Poor Nate! .
