Jack-O-Lantern Cookies

I am so stoked for the holidays with the kids this year! Now that they are three and four, it is so fun that they are big enough to really anticipate Halloween. They've been talking about their costumes and our plans for at least a month. And this is the first year they've really caught the vision of the jack-o-lantern cookies.


Leah hasn't quite caught the vision yet, but she did respond well to Dad walking around and around the downstairs in an attempt to keep her from yelling the whole time we were frosting cookies. But she'll be so cute in her costume. And don't look now, but Christmas is coming up, and who doesn't love a snuggly baby by the light of a Christmas tree?

Nate the daredevil

We had one more adventure last Saturday that Nate was too embarrassed to write about. Before our hiking excursion we went to Liberty Park to feed the ducks. Addison had a great time in his stroller soaking up some rays and watching the lake and the people and the birds. We tried hard to avoid the seagulls, which are gross if you've never had much contact with them, and to get to the two ducks that were around, but competition for that bread was pretty fierce, so Nate decided to make the geese work for it (since they're the only ones that would). The documented evidence makes me wonder who was working harder, though, and who was more scared. Must be those ferocious beaks or the powerful weapons they like to call webbed feet. Golden Parenting Moments

Several weeks ago, Nate woke up feeling gung-ho on a Saturday morning and decided we were going on a family sledding trip. I was a grump, but went along with it anyway. By the time we found a decent place and got a good trail worn down the kids got snow in their drawers and it was time to go. We had a great time, obviously. Poor Nate! .
