Nobody Told Me About the Party

Well Leah is nine months old today. How to describe her? Adorable, pleasant, smart. She pulls up, walks along whatever she's pulled up on, plays the piano after pulling up on it. Her sleeping is improving greatly - usually just getting up once a night to eat, which I accept gratefully. She loves to eat and is still nursing! She loves looking at pictures of our family. She loves her siblings. She has one tooth, with another one that is stubbornly refusing to break through. She loves to play "roll the ball back and forth," occasionally substituting a plastic potato from the kids' kitchen if no ball can be found. Peekaboo is another favorite. And she lives for bath time.

We hadn't planned anything special to commemorate this day. Just an extra squeeze, perhaps, and some vaccines on Monday. We did give her spaghetti for the first time last night, come to think of it. She dug. She had bigger plans, though. She saw her chance this afternoon while I was spaced out reading a book on the floor, and she was playing in her room. She happened upon the phone, a favorite toy, and got to pushing buttons. I heard it begin to dial and came back to earth long enough to grab it and hang it up before it called whatever nineteen-digit number she had chosen this time around. Ten seconds later her peeps from the dispatch called back, undeterred. This party was going to happen whether I hung up on them or not. After blushing and apologizing profusely into the phone, they still sent a friend over to check things out. Leah got her party after all. Happy nine months, little one.

  1. AHAHAHAHA Hilarious! The picture is so cute and it matches her mischeviousness of the day perfectly.

  2. That is so embarassing! That happened one time when the Isenbergers were over and Jennifer decided to try dialing 911. Not only did they send a "friend" but he insisted that he search the whole house and proceded to give the little criminal quite the talking to!!
