Leah's First Birthday

Our sweet baby is one already! We celebrated her birthday yesterday. It was a beautiful day and we got to spend lots of time outside playing, which is one of the things Leah loves the most. It's crazy how fast this first year has flown! Here are some pictures of the festivities.

The birthday girl first thing in the morning.

Those cupcakes in the oven are for me?? (Okay maybe she was actually more excited about playing with the dirty socks.)
One of her very favorite pastimes, sliding.
Leah absolutely loves this car. And this is her favorite way to ride in it - with her foot hanging out the door.

We had spaghetti for her birthday supper. A favorite and a classic.
Then we opened presents.

This is kind of the way it went. Addison and Bryn were very helpful. It was fun to bake and wrap  and get everything ready with them. They were so excited for Leah.

Leah just thought it was all great.

The cupcakes were lemon with raspberry frosting. It was a new recipe, and I must say, they were positively divine.

Digging in.

And in honor of her big day, some fun facts about Leah:

Faves: Books, real non-baby food (or whatever Mom's having), strawberries, peaches, bananas and all fruits, green beans, being outside, animals, telephones. Also flowers. And she loves her shoes.

Skills: Knows what elephants, fish, and cows say. An excellent dancer. Very good at blowing her nose into tissues. Can rub her hands together to show us she's ready to wash after eating. Sleeps through the night! At long last! Folds her arms for prayers.

Has six teeth - four on top and two on bottom.

And we're in the process of weaning from breastfeeding to whole milk. We made it a whole year! As a result, I am somewhat of an emotional mama here. But I only cried over it once yesterday. And Dad and the siblings are excited to get the chance to help.

  3. It's been a while since I've checked out blogs. Seems like with each new addition to our family, my free time decreases significantly. Go figure ;) I can't believe how big your kids are getting. Leah turned one? What? Such a sweet little cheese face. Way to make it a full year on breastfeeding! Such an accomplishment. We miss you guys!
