Bryn is four years old! Her birthday was at a chaotic time this year with the remodel and my lightning-fast trip to Georgia, but come it did, and we partied. She wanted a party (under Addison's influence, I think), and so we did one. Looking back on it, I don't think I'd do another one for a four year old - a little young, but she had a really good time, and they were all so cute. It was a bird party, because she loves everything bird.
| Balloons from Daddy. He tied them by her bed so she saw them first thing when she woke up. |
| Bryn's main birthday wish was to go to the farmer's market and get a balloon animal. Daddy made it happen that morning before her party. It's a swan. |
| Our ripped-apart, but stylishly decorated family room and kitchen. |
| Pin the bird in the birdhouse. I think this was the thing about the party that Bryn was the most excited about. |
| We made bird/sparkly/stickery/glittery headbands. |
| A fishing game, just with birds and eggs. They caught an egg then had to do what it said inside (mostly about birds). |
| A close-up of a bird. We made them from socks. |
| A treasure hunt. The angry birds had to get the missing eggs back from the pigs. Nate rocked it. In the rain, even. |
| Our cute birthday girl in her favorite outfit. |
| They found the eggs! (Bubblegum necklaces that we made in GA). |
| Juliann got to participate long-distance. She's Bryn's cousin and they're like 3 months apart. We all know they'd be best friends if they didn't live 2,000 miles away from each other. |
| My friend Kim made delicious, soft, wonderful egg-shaped sugar cookies for the kids to decorate. I didn't have time because I was gone the few days before the party. Best friends ever, I tell ya. |
After the party we hung out, had pesto, and later we had cake and presents, just the family.
| Long-distance love from the fam. |
| Presents! |
| We got her a hippety hop, which she loves. |
| The cake is actually a nest. Hard to tell, because she chose blue frosting. But it was the easiest ever. A bundt cake frosted blue, with peanut m&ms in the middle. Then I just stuck two little birds from Joann on the side. |
| I made Bryn these little bird wings. I think they turned out so cute, and they were really fun to make. |
And a little about Bryn. She is so easygoing. She puts up with endless bossing from her big brother, and actually seems to enjoy it. She will also stand very still for very long periods of time while I try to do her hair. She loves to play and go outside. Her very favorite thing is birds. She loves anything that has anything to do with them. Like, a lot. She adores our chickens, and her favorite is Blue, because "she's so beautiful." We're working on saying her l's right now, and she's making good progress. Bryn loves reading and coloring and writing. She is a big helper and does jobs almost always without complaining. She likes to cook and bake with me, and scrub things. She loves macaroni and cheese, pesto, any pasta, beef stew, eggs and toast, and butter. Her favorite colors are green, pink, purple, red, and blue.
I'm so happy that the party was a huge success! You guys did a great job. Bryn is adorable. Your wings turned out SO GOOD!!! I miss you guys.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the wings you made! You are extremely talented :) PS I'll make you cookies any time you need/want them...that's what friends are for!
