Farm Day

Back in mid-April we were able to go to farm day again at Melissa's family's farm. It was strange to be there without Addison, since he was in school. Even though we missed him, the girls and I and Bryn's preschool and church buddies had a great time. We got to hold chicks and hamsters and ducks and pet all sorts of other farm animals. Leah found the cows a bit frightening. But in her defense, there were a lot of 'em, and they were really loud and stinky. Bryn even got her picture taken for the newspaper, petting a pig (although we never looked to see if it ended up getting printed).

Oh. My. Goodness. This picture should be in the dictionary next to the entry for "ridiculously cute." Bryn was in heaven holding this little duck.

Nate the daredevil

We had one more adventure last Saturday that Nate was too embarrassed to write about. Before our hiking excursion we went to Liberty Park to feed the ducks. Addison had a great time in his stroller soaking up some rays and watching the lake and the people and the birds. We tried hard to avoid the seagulls, which are gross if you've never had much contact with them, and to get to the two ducks that were around, but competition for that bread was pretty fierce, so Nate decided to make the geese work for it (since they're the only ones that would). The documented evidence makes me wonder who was working harder, though, and who was more scared. Must be those ferocious beaks or the powerful weapons they like to call webbed feet. Golden Parenting Moments

Several weeks ago, Nate woke up feeling gung-ho on a Saturday morning and decided we were going on a family sledding trip. I was a grump, but went along with it anyway. By the time we found a decent place and got a good trail worn down the kids got snow in their drawers and it was time to go. We had a great time, obviously. Poor Nate! .
