Leah Turns 2
We celebrated Leah's big day on May 7. It rained/snowed all day long. But it was a great day anyway, and I think she had a great time and felt really special. Addison and Brynny treated her like royalty all day long.
It is fun to watch Leah getting big. She is very opinionated, but is learning to control herself, little by little. She loves to tag along with the big kids and do what they're doing. She also adores her baby brother and likes to help with him and hold and pet him whenever she can. Leah looks forward to Sundays because she loves nursery and loves to wear dresses. She has a sweet tooth like nobody's business. In fact, I went to get her out of her bed after her nap a few days ago, and she'd eaten nine dum dum suckers and a pack of smarties that she'd found in a bag on top of her dresser. Wow. She's trying to quit naps since we snipped the end of her beloved sucker, but hopefully Daddy and I can prevail upon her to pick them up again. We shall see. She has also recently switched from a crib to a big girl bed, which she has done surprisingly well with, thanks to Daddy. She's learning her colors and seems to especially like yellow and pink. One of her most impressive tricks is that she can actually jump - both feet off the ground - on the trampoline. It is so cute to watch. Things looked great at the doctor for her 2 year check up. The doctor said that she'll be 5' 8" when she grows up! Say what!? That's taller than both of her parents. We shall see.
Auntie Kim and Ben came over in the morning with birthday doughnuts, a pink balloon, and a cute little ballerina magnet doll (and the ballerina's name was actually Leah!!) for the birthday girl. Leah was thrilled. Especially with the balloon. And then Kim read her like 25 books. Definitely a good start to the day.
Daddy only worked a half day, and surprised Leah with this bunch of balloons when she woke up from her nap. She was thrilled.
We had that great American classic, cream tuna, for her birthday supper. Peas are another of her faves.
And then it came time for presents! Addison and Bryn were extremely eager to assist, but she did just fine on her own.
Daddy had his party hat on. It's a shark.
Becoming more and more glamorous with each present.
The haul. She was pretty excited about everything she got.
Listening to Grammie, Gramps and co. singing happy birthday. She loved it.
And the birthday cake! She actually doesn't really like cake, so we made sure to have ice cream, and covered the cake in candy, which she appreciated. I love watching her bangs while she's trying to blow out the candles.
After cake she rolled around the family room with her ball for a while and had a blast. The kids helped me make her tutu.
She got a Winnie the Pooh book that you paint using nothing but water. It's a hit. And it's not messy at all, which makes Mommy happy.
And here's our cute girl's birthday interview.

That girly has definitely got some Mingledorff blood in her. And the cream tuna picture is hilarious. Happy birthday Leah!
