Apples, Diaper Hats and Christmas Cookies

We've had a long, wonderful autumn this season. A real live Indian summer. As a general rule, I expect snow around October 25th. It's in the fifties today and I'd say that's the coldest weather we've had so far! Here's what we've been up to.

Applesauce! We have friends in the ward who are kind enough to let us have all the apples we want off their trees for free! It's so fun to pick apples. I'm excited for our little apple trees to grow big enough to give us a notable yield. As it is, we ate the first ones from our golden delicious tree this year. The honey crisp tree is about a year behind, I think. We canned lots of applesauce. Hopefully six months' worth. Everyone helped - Leah's the only one we got pictures of, though.

Nate went all sappy on me and took me on a hot date to a corn maze. Sappy because it reminded us of that fateful day many years ago when we went on our first date to another maze called Hee Haw in American Fork. I liked it. A girl needs some sap in her life every once in awhile.

Cute to the point of needing to be devoured. Also, this pumpkin is from our garden!

We planted these mums last year and I absolutely love the color.

Poor Addison was on Asa duty while Asa was less than happy. Big brother tried everything to cheer Asa up, including giving him a diaper hat. But to no avail, the child screamed on. The hat looked great, though.

Over fall break we did a couple fun fall activities. This Halloween tree is one I copied from my friend Mindy. We had a great time putting it together. It was fun to find rocks and branches to make the tree part of the tree. And we really had a good time cutting out pictures of Halloweens past and mounting them on scrapbook paper. I think it turned out cute. Way too many pictures, but I just couldn't choose - too much cuteness.

Addison found a picture in a magazine of gingerbread mummy cookies and wanted to make some, so we did for another fun fall activity over UEA. I love making gingerbread cookies because they smell divine.

For the mummies you're supposed to just use gingerbread boy cutouts and put frosting on for the wrapping. The kids got into the cookie cutters, though, and it mainly turned into Christmas cookies. With hearts. And a mummy or two. It was so much fun.
