Halloween
While Halloween is not my very favorite holiday, I love to watch the kids get excited about it. They have such a great time dressing up and anticipating trick-or-treating.
This year our ward had a trunk-or-treat and chili dinner that we got to attend. We came really close to missing it because Leah had been sick, but she rallied just in time and we got to go. It was pretty much insane, as is any dinner time with four children. But the kids had a good time and got to do some fun activities and trick-or-treat. Leah was so full of sass as she rode her stick horse across the gym during the costume parade. She felt like a million bucks, and it showed.
I was so proud of Addison for totally taking charge of his costume this year. He was a bandit at the trunk-or-treat. Then on Halloween itself, he was inspired to be Harry Potter, like last year. He's recently started reading Harry Potter again.
Bryn was Humphrey the Hamster, the star of one of her favorite book series. Her costume pulled double duty, because she wore it to the book character convention at her school, where she did a presentation to her class on a book she'd read. She rocked the presentation, and the costume.
My mom made the cutest trick-or-treat bags for the kids! What a fun surprise to get in the mailbox! They all slept with them and carried various assortments of things around in them in the days leading up to Halloween. Thanks, Mom!

Ain't he cute!?

Leah chose to be a cowgirl, and was the cutest one I've ever seen.
And Asa was a rooster, which he seemed to enjoy. He thought trick-or-treating was the best. He and I quit early so that we could go hand out candy at our house. We got two trick or treaters total. So disappointing! But we now have a year's supply of candy, so I suppose things could be worse.
Nate even busted out his Brazilian gaucho outfit for the trunk or treat.
We carved pumpkins the day before Halloween. We kept it very simple with just two pumpkins with simple faces. It was perfect. Asa was delighted with all the squishy "guts" inside. He laughed his head off when he got to help scoop them out.
Some tasty Halloween treats
The school crossing guard had the funniest costume I saw. He was Gandalf, from Lord of the Rings. Check out the sign. So fitting.
