March for Refugees

Nate and I were sick when we heard about President Trump's temporary refugee ban. We really wanted to do something to show our support for refugees. So when we heard about a march to the capitol protesting the ban, we were all in. The kids were very excited to participate too, and we were proud of our little protesters. They designed their own signs. Addison's said, "Show love to everyone." Leah's was, "Let refugees in." And Bryn wrote "Treat others like you want to be treated."

So the morning came and we headed to Salt Lake City. We started at the Federal Building and marched up state street to the capitol. Neither Nate nor I have ever done anything like that, and it was thrilling. It made me grateful to have been born in a free country where it is safe for me and my family to openly disagree with government policies.

We continue to look for ways to help and support refugees and encourage you to do the same! The LDS church's website has ideas of where to get started. Check it out by clicking here!

Gathering at the Federal Building

Our little marchers.

Up the hill to the capitol.

The turnout was enormous! Somewhere between four and five thousand people showed up to march.

We made it!
