Garden and More
Well I officially cannot keep up. Our summer is going well. We're having some lazy days and some crazy days. We've gone on a couple small trips, our bodies are getting nicely bronzed, and that about sums it up. Here's a collection of pictures from the past few months.
Here's Addison presenting his "all about me" poster to his class.
I got to help out at field day. Love these cute little guys!
We planted some flower boxes, and also our garden. Unfortunately we had a late frost and lost about half the flowers and all our tomatoes. So we did a redo (at least of the tomatoes).
Addison's cabbage, Leo, that he got at school.
We have enormous earthworms at our house!
Heavenly Father has really blessed us this year already in the garden department. Our garden area is a hill, so we build raised beds in order to create a flat place to grow stuff. We wanted to expand and add a third planter this year, but had no funds to do so. After thinking and praying and scouting around, we found a neighbor with a wood pile they wanted to get rid of and were able to get the wood to build a frame. Then another neighbor offered us half a truckload of excellent compost. And we had a pile of leftover dirt from last year sitting in our yard. That plus some elbow grease made us a garden! And then a neighbor brought over like 8 tomato plants!
A sweet worm lullaby.
We also put in another peach tree.
Asa is seriously into spiders. He names every book, stuffed animal, etc. "Spiders To The Rescue." Here he is lovin' on a daddy long leg.
And olives. Eww.
Leah with a wishing flower.
I continue to be impressed by Nate's constantly improving handyman skills. He and his dad teamed up to replace some rotten stairs on our deck, which was not the simplest project ever. But they look great!
And he also fixed up my weathered bird feeder that is one of my most prized possessions. He even repainted and sealed it to match our new house.
We went to a "hawkwatch" program at our library one night and got to see some pretty cool birds.
These guys are so cute. Addison does a really good job with Asa at night and lets him crawl into bed with him. Awwww.
