Bryn's Speech

One more highlight from October. Bryn decided out of the blue that she wanted to enter the Martin Luther King Jr. speech contest! This came as a shock to me, because Bryn does not enjoy the spotlight, especially in a school or church setting. So the fact that she would volunteer to stand up in front of everyone and recite a memorized speech was quite a surprise, but also totally awesome! Go Brynny!

With Nate's help, she chose an excerpt from one of Dr. King's speeches that resonated with her, and then she practiced and practiced. Here she is in all her glory!

Nate the daredevil

We had one more adventure last Saturday that Nate was too embarrassed to write about. Before our hiking excursion we went to Liberty Park to feed the ducks. Addison had a great time in his stroller soaking up some rays and watching the lake and the people and the birds. We tried hard to avoid the seagulls, which are gross if you've never had much contact with them, and to get to the two ducks that were around, but competition for that bread was pretty fierce, so Nate decided to make the geese work for it (since they're the only ones that would). The documented evidence makes me wonder who was working harder, though, and who was more scared. Must be those ferocious beaks or the powerful weapons they like to call webbed feet. Golden Parenting Moments

Several weeks ago, Nate woke up feeling gung-ho on a Saturday morning and decided we were going on a family sledding trip. I was a grump, but went along with it anyway. By the time we found a decent place and got a good trail worn down the kids got snow in their drawers and it was time to go. We had a great time, obviously. Poor Nate! .
