Halloween 2019
Here's a little sampler of the Halloween fun for this year.
We made witch hat cookies and went "booing."
We carved pumpkins. The kids each designed their own. Emmie mainly just wrote all over herself with a magic marker.
Bryn's spooky owl.
Addison's Minecraft jack-o-lantern. Very clever.
Asa's is a classic. It's half saying "boo," and half smiling.
And Leah's cat.
They were cool-looking on our porch!
We went to the Treehouse Museum's Walk in the Woods program. It was loads of fun and completely free since we're members!
Then it snowed and got ridiculously cold out of nowhere.
So we baked! A new sugar cookie recipe for our jack-o-lantern cookies this year.
Emmie liked the frosting more than the cookie.
Bryn went for both.
We made a huge pot of soup and took a neighbor to the trunk or treat at church.
Nate was a biker dude. Emmie did not approve of the beard.
Costume parade.
I was Ruth Bader Ginsberg.
And then the real day came!
We got to have Grandma in town for Halloween this year, and she painted some awesome faces to go with our costumes.
Addison was a stray from Minecraft.
Bryn was an Indian
Leah was a witch.
Asa used his own money to buy an epic astronaut costume. These pics are from the day it came in the mail.
"Make an astronaut face!"
"Wait Mom! Take another one with a scientist face!"
Ready to trick-or-treat.
Emmie was Tinkerbell. She hated her costume, but was cute in it anyway.
This group pounded some serious pavement trick-or-treating. Even Emmie did great. Considering the fact that it was below freezing, I was quite impressed!
Leah bumped into several of her sister witches while we were out.
After a good long while, Emmie and Grandma and I came home to thaw out and hand out candy to our one trick-or-treater for the year.
Asa put on every shirt he owned and went back for more.
They finally located the holy grail of all trick-or-treating houses. Hot dogs, doughnuts, chips, and hot chocolate!
Then Asa had to ask somebody at the next house for a drink.
They hit the notorious full-sized candy bar houses on the way home, and finally showed up at our door ready to wheel and deal with each other. So. Much. Candy.
